Raising Godly families

Larry and I were recently on the Joni Show – shown on Daystar Television Network. The focus was on raising Godly families and with our newest book Releasing Family Blessings they realized God had given us insights into marriage, parenting and making sure the family is covered – especially when you are in ministry. One of the main points we covered is straight out of our book…

“When it comes to ‘constricting the flow’ in the lives of our children, our choice tactics should be instruction, motivation, and discipline. Instruction lays out our expectations and lets our kids know what we expect of them, as well as what God expects of them. Motivation involves rewarding our kids for doing the right thing. Discipline gets a bad rap, but it’s really a good thing, because it shows our kids that we love them, just as God’s chastening proves His love for us.”

We realize that if God loves us AND disciplines us, then we in turn need to discipline our children in a gentle and appropriate way. Understanding that each child is different, and as parents it is our job to know how to guide each child.

“If God chastens His children, whom He loves, then He intends for us chasten our own children, as well. And if we don’t discipline them, someone else will: the school principal, the police, the court system, or worse.” Taken from Releasing Family Blessings
